New tokamak of the Southwestern Institute of Physics (SWIP) HL-2M produced its 1st plasma on 04/12/2020.

The machine is a medium size tokamak: Ip=3MA, B=3T, R = 1.78 m, a = 0.65 m, elongation ≤ 1.8; triangularity ≤ 0.5, with 27 MW of H&CD power (15 MW NBI, 8 MW ECRF, 4 MW LHCD). It was designed to have flexible configuration in order to explore various divertor configurations.
